"An error occurred while attempting to format the drive." error with WBFS Manager

Just close the program, right click its shortcut/exe and "Run as administrator" :)

    open a cmd window
    type "format e: /q" assuming e: is your usb drive letter
    on the volume question goto your window explorer and press on the drive you want to format (e:) press F2 and copy the name of the drive (current volume)
    paste it as your answer to the volume question.
    the cmd will ask you to force dismount - approve...
    enter a new volume (ie "WII")
    now you could use the WBFS manager...

    Copy the name of the drive (current volume)
    paste it as your answer to the volume question.

    what volume question are you talking about. where do i press f2 on window explorer?

    1. It's been 8 years since I wrote this so I can't remember really :) I believe the 'format e: /q' command will ask you what name you'd like to give the formatted drive, and F2 is just to select and copy the old name.

    2. Yes, you're correct, F2 just opens the bar where you input the name to rename the device
